Please take a look at this e-petition for poor pensioners, some of the
most poverty stricken people of this country are pensioners.

Those petitions don't work. They are merely a sop to the electorate to
make them think that they do work (MPs, civil servants and
e-petitions).

I saw a pensioner (in his 80s) yesterday paying off a £700+ bill and
another of £500+ and he still had over £600 in his current account.
Poor? Not with that kind of money!!

He must not have been on a state pension then. (...£45 a week...)

Probably state pension + a private pension + income from investments.
He was very well spoken so quite likely senior management or ex
forces.
